Each year, the department trains more than 8,000 st
udents in professional development classes. The Professional
Development Branch offers specialized training for
law enforcement officers and telecommunicators. Each
officer in the state must receive at least 40 hours
of annual training to remain certified. The annual
training is also required for the officers to continue
to qualify for the Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation
Program Fund, or KLEFPF. Professional development
training was originally offered so officers could
comply with KLEFPF requirements. |
